Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Competes at New England Championships

FRANKLIN PARK, MA – The University of Maine men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 9.

For the men, they were led by Sam Mills. Mills finished 3rd in the meet with a time of 24:46.5, an average mile of 4:59.0, both of which led all America East men that competed in the Varsity level race.

Alec Troxell took 22rd for the men with a time of 25:21.1 and Luke Marsanskis rounded out the trio of impressive junior standouts for the Black Bears with a 31st finish and a time of 25:31.1.

On the women’s side, they were led by an impressive finish by Lydia Gilmore who placed 66th in meet. She ran a 19:20.2 and an average mile of 6:13.4.

For both teams, they are prepped for their final meet of the 2021 season with the America East Championships coming up next. The Championships are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29 in Durham, N.H.
